HIDDEN GUN ROOMS

Hidden Gun Rooms in Houston

A secure room built into the house you already have — under the stairs, behind a closet, or off the master suite — finished so nobody knows it's there.

HOW WE APPROACH IT

A room that looks like it was always part of the house.

A gun safe sitting in a bedroom closet tells everyone what's in it. A hidden gun room doesn't. Precise Buildz builds secure rooms into existing homes across Greater Houston, using space most houses already have: the dead space under a staircase, the back of a walk-in closet, or a corner off the master suite.

Because Steven Hernandez started as a carpenter and still runs a millwork shop, the entrance is the part we care about most. The door, trim and finish are built to match the rest of your house, so the room reads as a closet, a hallway or a wall — not a vault.

Inside, the same shop that builds our custom millwork and cabinetry builds the storage: shelving, cabinets and drawers sized to what you actually own.

WHAT WE BUILD

Scope of work

  • Hidden rooms under the stairs, behind a closet, or off the master suite
  • Concealed entrances finished to match the surrounding doors, trim and millwork
  • Vault-style door openings framed and finished into the wall
  • Gun storage shelving, cabinets and drawers built in our own shop
  • Lighting and outlets planned in, including for a dehumidifier
  • Flooring, paint and trim inside the room to match the rest of the house
BEFORE YOU BUILD

What to plan for in a Houston gun room

Humidity

A closed room in Houston traps moisture. Plan for power and space for a dehumidifier from the start rather than running an extension cord later.

Weight

Vault-style doors and loaded storage are heavy. Where the room goes — slab floor or upper level — affects how the opening and floor need to be built.

Discretion

The best location is one nobody would think to look. Under the stairs and the back of a closet work well because those spaces are expected to have a door.

THE PROCESS

From walkthrough to finished room.

STEP 01

Private Walkthrough

Steven walks the house with you and looks at where a room could go — under the stairs, a closet, an unused corner — and measures what's there.

STEP 02

Plan the Room

We decide together how the room is entered, how it's hidden, what goes inside, and where lighting and power need to be.

STEP 03

Build & Finish

The framing, door opening, storage and finishes are built and installed by the same crew, and the entrance is finished so it blends into the house.

QUESTIONS

Hidden Gun Room FAQ

Can you build a gun room under my stairs?

Often, yes. The space under a staircase in a two-story home is one of the most common places for a hidden room. Steven measures the headroom, depth and how the stairs are framed during the walkthrough to see what will fit.

Can the entrance be hidden?

Yes. The point of a hidden room is that it doesn't announce itself. The entrance can sit behind an ordinary-looking door, inside a closet, or be finished to match the trim and millwork around it, so the room reads as part of the house.

Can you add storage inside the room?

Yes. Shelving, cabinets, drawers and wall storage are built in-house by the same shop that makes our closets and built-ins, sized to what you need to store.

What about Houston humidity?

Humidity is the main thing to plan for in a closed room here. We talk through lighting, outlets and space for a dehumidifier during planning so the room is ready for it when it's finished.

How much does a hidden gun room cost?

It depends on the space, the door and what goes inside, so every room is quoted after a walkthrough.
