Custom Millwork & Cabinetry in Houston
Walk-in closets, mudroom built-ins, wall paneling, and cabinetry — designed to the millimeter and built in our own shop.

Drawn to the wall, built in the shop.
Millwork is the trade Precise Buildz was built on. Steven Hernandez started in 2006 as a carpenter, and the shop still does the work most remodelers subcontract: wardrobe towers and drawer stacks for walk-in closets, painted shaker mudroom built-ins with solid wood benches and brass hooks, geometric grid wall paneling assembled on site, furniture-grade vanities, and glass-front display cabinetry with integrated lighting.
Every piece is drawn to the wall it will live on. Wardrobe carcasses are backed with 3/4-inch birch plywood, joints are dadoed rather than stapled, and doors hang on Blum soft-close hinges. Closets are designed around the actual wardrobe — hanging heights, shoe pull-outs, handbag display cabinets with LED channels, and a center island where the room allows. Recent work includes bespoke shaker wardrobes in Houston, mudroom lockers and paneled accent walls in Katy, and a walk-through closet corridor in Pearland. Because we build and install with one crew, the fit is checked by the people who cut the parts.
The same shop produces the cabinetry for our custom kitchens and the furniture-grade vanities in our bathroom remodeling.

Wine Storage, Bars & Humidor Cabinetry
Display and bar cabinetry comes out of the same shop as our closets and mudrooms. Recent pieces include a glass-enclosed liquor display cabinet with backlit shelving, a bedroom bar console with an integrated beverage cooler, and wine-bottle compartments worked into pantry runs with white oak trim. Humidor cabinetry is built the same way — as furniture sized to the collection. Each piece is designed around what it needs to hold and where it sits in the room, with glass set into solid frames and LED channels concealed in the joinery.

From consultation to finished piece.
Measure & Inventory
For a closet, Steven measures the room and inventories what it needs to hold — hanging lengths, folded stacks, shoes, bags. For a mudroom or paneled wall, he measures the wall and studies how the family actually moves through the space.
Shop Drawings & Finish
We draw every elevation to the wall dimensions, choose painted or stained finish and hardware, and lay out lighting channels for display cabinets before a single panel is cut.
Build, Finish & Install
Carcasses, doors, and drawers are built and spray-finished in the shop. On site, the same crew levels, scribes, and installs the pieces, then fits the hardware and lighting.
Custom Millwork & Cabinetry FAQ
Is the cabinetry really made in your own shop?
Yes. Design, cutting, assembly, painting, and finishing all happen in-house, and the crew that builds the pieces is the crew that installs them.
Can you design a closet around my actual wardrobe?
That's the point of custom. We inventory what you own — long hang, short hang, folded, shoes, bags — and size each tower and drawer stack to it, including lit display cabinets if you want them.
What's the difference between a mudroom built-in and a locker system?
Same idea, different footprint. A built-in is one continuous painted shaker unit with a solid wood bench, cubbies, and hooks, sized to your entry wall; locker-style units divide it into individual bays. We build both.
Do you install wall paneling in existing rooms?
Yes. Our geometric grid paneling is assembled on site to the room's exact proportions, so the pattern lands evenly at the corners, outlets, and window trim.
Can you build a bar into a bedroom or living room instead of a dedicated bar area?
Yes. The bedroom bar console on this page is exactly that — a compact, dark-finished cabinet with a built-in beverage cooler that reads as furniture rather than a bar.
How is display-cabinet lighting done so the bulbs aren't visible?
We run LED channels inside the joinery so the shelves glow from concealed sources — the backlit shelving in the glass liquor display cabinet on this page is a good example.
